The Basics
The sky has been calm so far this week, even with Mercury still retrograde…but that’s about to change!
Mars in Leo — our deepest desire to be our weirdest self, center stage — encourages us to find a healthy pride. Enjoy your creativity, celebrate your strengths. Inspo: Al Franken as Stuart Smalley on SNL doing his daily affirmations.
However, Mars is still getting tried by his own retrograde. That inflammation can reveal the textures of our inner child’s pain, making us sensitive, especially in groups. Conflict can come to a head, but that knowledge is a gift — it might even fix a friendship.
To top it off, Mars opposes Venus in Aquarius, who just got back from visiting Pluto in the underworld last week. Being in complimentary signs, the yin-yang tension between these divine femme and divine masc planets is high. Leo is the Hollywood starlet (it’s all about me!), while Aquarius, navigator of networks, friendships, and communities, tries to remind this diva that he didn’t just fall out of a coconut tree. Mars isn’t really having it. Expect relationship tête-à-têtes, but stay curious; it might be sexy? The cosmic lovers share a passionate charge — can you learn something from an opponent?

Weekly Highlights & Sign Specifics
On Monday, the Moon was in Aries, whose ruler Mars was (and is) retrograde in Leo. How can you hold the sacred anger that comes up under this self-focused transit?
Today, December 12, Venus in Aquarius opposes cranky bad boy Mars in Leo. These two love each other’s drama, even in a tense square (aka astro baby-making time). We’ll feel torn between desires for harmony (Venus) and an urge towards independence (Mars), similar to the Libra/Aries dynamic.
On Friday and Saturday, we ramp up to the weekend with a full Moon in Taurus — sexuality runs high, as do questions around stability and safety.
Come Sunday, Mercury stations direct in Sagittarius (leaving retrograde!!) and trines Mars. This sets us off to be impulsive and fiery, but it’s a double- edged sword — we’re still in a minefield. Mercury in detriment scrambles communication; be prepared for extremes, like going no contact or over-communicating.
A full Moon in Gemini throws some Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde surprises into the mix, and unleashes a rush of creative focus and quick thinking over the next two weeks.
Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces (suns and risings): my mutable girls, get ready to show-and-tell what you’ve been working on internally during retrograde.
Knowing where the Gemini-Sag axis is in your chart helps here — book a reading with me to prepare for downloads around your personal mythology!
Rex’s Recs:
Do:
Talk yourself up. Mars in Leo reminds us we deserve it. But be sure it isn’t at the expense of others.
Take extra time when traveling (a Mercury station loves to screw that up).
Be cautious around overly aggressive types, for my subbier lambs; don’t fall prey to those who deal with their wounds through violence.
Have fun! Be social and spontaneous this weekend. Are you returning to something you used to enjoy?
Consider a silent retreat or meditation; document your changing philosophy.
Be patient with people as they change. They need the grace.
Admit when you're wrong, especially my Sagittarii.
Don’t:
Tell someone they’re wrong when really it’s that you need to go learn something. Channel Jupiter in Gemini’s confident curiosity.
Let libidinal shadows get you. These transits can boil over into tempers, selfishness, even wandering eyes. Put that extra heat into something restorative and consensual.
Tell too tall a tale. All this Sag energy while Mercury comes back online can go over the top, like buying everything at the grocery story because you forgot to eat for 3 days (giving yoyo). Be enthusiastic, but keep some Virgo checks and balances. What are the logistics of getting to Bali? Do you have sunscreen? Even Saturn in Pisces: are you pushing yourself too hard? How’s your mental health?
Join a cult. A Sag guru might seem appealing, but it’s not the week!
Burn the bridge while you’re on it. Ya, read it again.
Post on social this weekend. Tech will be weird with Mercury, so no big proclamations. Anything said under a mutable full moon is very in flux.
Journaling Prompts:
Anger is a powerful motivator, but not when used forcefully towards ourselves or others. Is your anger serving you, or is it destructive?
What do you deserve more credit for?
Are you actually taking care of your body?
How does it impact your inner child to apologize? To say you were wrong?
